SC Ten goes local in Shepparton

shepparton Viewers in Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley in north east Victoria will soon have a new prime-time program dedicated to covering the news and issues from within their local area.

On 21 March, Southern Cross Ten launches Weeknights, a locally-based half-hour program of news, sport and weather with lifestyle segments covering topics like real estate, health, entertainment and local identities.

Hosted by Joel Crean with reporters Peter Cardamone, Dean Foscarini and Emily Whitham, Weeknights will also feature presenters from Southern Cross Ten’s sister radio stations in Shepparton, 3SRFM and Star 96.9.

Leanne Hulm, general manager of Southern Cross’ Goulburn Valley Media Centre, said that Weeknights is a significant step in providing content specifically tailored for local viewers:

“This is a first – both for Southern Cross Media and the Goulburn Valley. With a combination of news and lifestyle presented across the half-hour, we’re doing something completely different – but entirely focused on and relevant to our region. I’d ask everyone to make the switch.”

southerncrossten Weeknights will screen in the 6.30pm timeslot, replacing the local relay of the Melbourne-based Evening News from Network Ten.  The new program will appear in direct competition with the local WIN News bulletin and the networked Today Tonight.

The Shepparton and Goulburn Valley market represents a total audience of around 173,000 viewers across an area stretching from Eildon, north of Melbourne, and up past the NSW border to Deniliquin and Jerilderie.

Weeknights.  Starts Monday 21 March, 6.30pm. Southern Cross Ten (Shepparton/Goulburn Valley).

Can I ask why do you advertise The Simpsons each night at 6pm but instead televise the Weeknights show..Put that show on when the adults may be more interested not when the kids are all ready to watch there favorite show. Or at least advise the TV Guides of the correct programming. But to be honest I can’t imagine there would be many people interested in anything to do with this town!!!
